Google Maps Launched in Indonesia Today

Google's plan to feature Google Maps has launched in Indonesia today. Google Maps is a geographic service that provides online maps, satellite imagery, driving guide, address and list of companies, and are now available in Indonesian version.

To further expand geographical service, Google took some local partners that provide location-based services, namely PT. Telekomsel Indonesia.

"We will be glad to cooperate with more local partners that provide location services on the platform of Google (Google Maps API)," said Derek Callow, Head of Marketing Google South East Asia, at the launch of Google Maps, Blitz Mega Pixel Grand Indonesia Jakarta October 6, 2010.

Google is a strategic move to go further in the Indonesian market, because Google itself has not had a special team in Indonesia such as Yahoo. "Because, even though Google Maps is a geographic platform collaborative but not an easy thing to provide content for such a large geographical conditions in Indonesia," he said.

By cooperating with local partners, Google directly can get hundreds of thousands of data content locations in Indonesia. Telkomsel Indonesia Track up to now have 200 thousand points the location of which is divided in 19 categories of places. The Urbanesia now have 220 thousand local corporate location data.

Now through Google Maps users can enjoy a variety of features that provide local content, in Location Search, Driving Directions, Local Business Search, and My Maps.
